TEHRAN, Dec. 21 (MNA) – A member of the political bureau of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has denounced Israeli foreign minister Eli Cohen’s assassination threat against top Hamas leaders.

In remarks on Thursday, Izzat al-Risheq called Cohen’s threat to assassinate Ismail Haniyeh and Khaled Meshaal's “shameless remarks” an expression of the enemy’s frustration.

The threat shows that the enemy is bewildered by its defeats against al-Qassam battalions, he said.

He also said the remarks were due to the inability of the Zionists to achieve the goals they set and failed to achieve.

According to Al Jazeera, Cohen said on Wednesday, “We will kill [top Hamas officials] Ismail Haniyeh and Khaled Meshaal and they will not die a natural death.”

Israel waged the bloody war against the Gaza Strip on October 7 after the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas carried out a retaliatory attack, dubbed Operation Al-Aqsa Storm, against the occupying entity for its atrocities against Palestinians.

The regime has killed at least 20,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured 53,000 others in Gaza since the beginning of the war.
