TEHRAN, Nov. 29 (MNA) – A high-ranking Iranian general has hailed the Resistance front in the region, saying “escape” is the ultimate fate of US occupation forces in Syria and Iraq, as it was the case in Afghanistan.

Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi, the top military adviser to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, made the remarks on Wednesday, as he analyzed the latest developments in the region.

“The resistance of the people and governments of Iraq and Syria caused the defeat of Daesh (ISIL), these American and Zionist mercenaries, [and] the resistance of the Afghan people caused the defeat of the US in Afghanistan and their humiliating escape. It caused the failure of the US in the plans to overthrow the Syrian government,” he said.

General Rahim Safavi went on to say that what has caused the reduction of US forces in Iraq and Syria are the popular Resistance groups in these two countries, adding that the ultimate fate of American troops is to flee Iraq and Syria just as they fled Afghanistan.

There are roughly 2,500 American troops in Iraq and some 900 in Syria as part of, what Washington claims to be, a fighting force against Daesh(ISIL). The US has maintained its presence, although, the Arab countries and their allies defeated the Takfiri terrorist group in late 2017.

The high-ranking Iranian general further noted that the defeat of the Israeli regime in the 33-day and 55-day wars on the Gaza Strip and its failure following Operation al-Aqsa Storm was the result of the Resistance front.

He also emphasized that the discourse of resistance in the Islamic world is the key to Muslim unity for the liberation of al-Quds.

Anti-American sentiments have soared across the region in the weeks following all-out support of Washington for ZIONIST crimes in the Gaza Strip where relentless Zionist strikes have killed nearly 15,000 Palestinians since October 7.

Israel launched the war on Gaza after the Palestinian Resistance movement Hamas waged the surprise Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against the occupying entity in response to the Israeli regime's decades-long campaign of bloodletting and devastation against Palestinians.

Tel Aviv has also imposed a “complete siege” on Gaza, cutting off fuel, electricity, food, and water to the more than two million Palestinians living there.

The Israeli regime has also ramped up its aggression across the occupied territories, since its brutal assault against Gaza.
