China has dismissed General Li Shangfu as defense minister, the second senior official to be ousted in the past three months.
Chinese State broadcaster CCTV reported on Tuesday that Li had been removed from his position.
Li had not been seen in public since the end of August. The decision to remove him was approved by the National People’s Congress Standing Committee. The report did not say who would take Li’s place.
Back in June, Beijing announced the replacement of Qin Gang with Wang Yi, as the new foreign minister.
