TEHRAN, Oct. 20 (MNA) – A 4.9 magnitude earthquake struck Fars Province in south west Iran on Friday, injuries were reported.

According to the seismologists, the earthquake occured at a depth of 10 kilometers from the earth ground with the Khaneh Zenian District near Shiraz, the capital of Fars Province as its epicenter. 

The quake struck early in the morning at 2:13 AM.

Khaneh Zenian District is 36 km far from Shiraz, where the tremors of the quake were also felt.

The Director General of Crisis Management of Fars Province told local Iranian media that the earthquake injured seven people, who tried to escape out of their homes for fear of the quake.
