TEHRAN, Aug. 9 (MNA) -- The exploration operations of the Kupal, Marun, and Aqajari oilfields in southern Iran are to be completed by late March 2007, Iranian Oil Exploration Operations Company (IOEOC) managing director Hassan Mohammadi-Moqaddam said here on Wednesday.

Seismological operations implemented on the three oilfields have turned out to be the leading projects in the exploration field, he noted.

Currently 70 percent of the project is complete, he said, adding, “The Chinese company BGP is conducting the seismological operations on the Aqajari oilfield, and it is far ahead of the Iranian companies responsible for exploiting the other two fields.”

The Iranian companies have not been able to complete the project on schedule because customs houses have delayed the clearance of new equipment, he explained.

Whereas the Aqajari field is located in a mountainous region, the seismological operations project for the Marun and Kupal fields is being implemented in both mountainous and flat terrain, which is another reason for the delay, Mohammadi-Moqaddam said.
