TEHRAN, July 31 (MNA) -- The Iranian documentary “Naft-Sefid” directed by Mahmud Rahmani will be competing in the Mediterranean Festival Video (MedFest), the Persian service of IRNA reported on Monday.

The festival, which focuses on dialogue among people, is being held from August 14 to 17 at the archaeological site of Paestum in southern Italy.

The documentary tells the story of a small town named “Naft-Sefid” (white oil), located in the center of the southwestern Iranian province of Khuzestan, whose economy is completely dependent on oil. The residents lose all hope and even lose their identity when the oil field runs dry.

Rahmani’s acclaimed movie was previously shown at the Alba, Leipzig, Amsterdam, and Milano international festivals.

The director is currently completing the documentary “Zero Point”, whose previous working title was “The Mona Lisa”.

The movie, which is being financed by Iran’s Islamic Ideology Dissemination Organization (IIDO), is in the postproduction stage.

The 25-minute film is about an Iraqi family living near the Iran-Iraq border and the suffering they experience during various wars in their country.
