TEHRAN, September 21 (Mehr News Agency) - Iran’s handicrafts industry plans to raise its share of the country’s export earnings from 2 percent during the Third Five-Year Development Plan to 5 percent during the Fourth Five-Year Development Plan, according to the director of the Iranian Handicrafts Organization (IHO), Yadollah Taher-Nejad.

The industry currently employs over 2 million workers and earns over 30 trillion rials annually, he added.

Since the industry is bringing such a large amount of capital into the country, the IHO has the right to seek more state support, Taher-Nejad said.
