Following is a summary of the letter:
As the most high-ranking executive official of the UN’s human rights organizations, you are definitely aware of the fact that the continuation of the Zionists’ atrocities against civilians in the occupied territories is one of the most grievous tragedies of the international community, which has lasted for more than 50 years.
Unfortunately, despite the fact that hundreds of resolutions condemning Israel’s actions have been issued over the years and despite the fact that most of the world’s countries have deplored Israel’s cruel acts, the United Nations, and particularly the Security Council, which is responsible for maintaining peace and security in the world according to the UN Charter, has failed to bring an end to such atrocities.
Also, over the past few days, Israel has carried out attacks on southern Lebanon and Palestine and killed dozens of innocent men, women, and children on the pretext of the capture of a few of its soldiers.
However, in such a situation, the UN Security Council holds a meeting, but due to the disagreement of the United States and Britain, suffices itself with only issuing a statement.
The continuation of these atrocities has other negative impacts, which can not be neglected, while a great number of developing countries, including Islamic countries, may come to the conclusion that international law and international organizations are tools to be used by the major powers against other nations and governments whenever their interests require such actions.
A serious measure should be taken to bring an end to these atrocities as soon as possible, and human right activists should prove that they spare no effort to disgrace the aggressors.
