TEHRAN, June 19 (MNA) -- The documentary “Divorce Iranian Style” (1998) is scheduled to be screened during the fourth session of the Anthropological Society of Iran, which is to be held in Tehran at the Iranian Artists Forum on June 21.

Directed by British filmmaker Kim Longinotto and London-based Iranian anthropologist Ziba Mirhosseini, the film follows events in an Iranian divorce court for several weeks, providing a unique window into the intimate circumstances of Iranian women’s lives.

The documentary had many screenings in the festivals of Edinburgh, Vienna, Amsterdam, Sheffield, Vancouver, and Marseilles and won the Best Film award at the Belgian Viewpoint International Documentary Film Festival, the Grand Prize for Best Documentary at the San Francisco International Film Festival, the Silver Hugo Award at the Chicago International Film Festival, and several other international accolades.

“Runaway”, a documentary about a shelter for runaway girls in Tehran, is another joint production of Longinotto and Mirhosseini.

Longinotto’s other credits include “Dream Girls”, “Hidden Faces”, and “The Day I Will Never Forget”.

Mirhosseini works as a freelance researcher and consultant on gender and development issues and has done extensive fieldwork in rural and urban Iran as well as urban Morocco. She is the author of “Feminism and the Islamic Republic: Dialogues with the Ulema”.

Mirhosseini is currently teaching in the Hauser Global School Law Program at New York University.
