TEHRAN, Feb. 22 (MNA) -- Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi here on Wednesday condemned the bombings earlier in the day of the holy shrines of the tenth and eleventh Shia Imams, Imam Hadi (AS) and Imam Hassan Askari (AS).

He called the bombings an inhumane, anti-Islamic, and brutal act that runs contrary to all religious and sacred values.

As for the probable motivation behind such horrific actions, Asefi said that the terrorists have committed these inhumane malefactions in a situation where Iraq is experiencing insecurity, mostly created by the presence of occupying forces, and their main objective is to create division, trigger sectarian conflict, and destroy Iraq’s national cohesion.

In conclusion, he stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran condemns these terrorist bombings and is sure that such terrorist measures can not weaken the strong will of the Iraqi nation or hinder efforts to unite Islamic countries.
