TEHRAN, Dec. 31 (MNA) – The old public bath in Deylaman is scheduled to be converted into an anthropology museum, the director of the Gilan Cultural Heritage and Tourism Department told IRNA on Saturday.

“The project requires 300 million rials to be implemented,” Seyyed Mojtaba Naqavi added.

“Archaeological studies indicate that the Deylaman public bath dates back to the Safavid era (1501-1722),” he said.

The substandard additions constructed later were removed during the first phase of the monument’s renovation process, which started in summer 2005, and restoration of the internal and external parts of the building is continuing, he explained.

The monument has a simple structure designed to withstand harsh mountainous weather, he added.

Deylaman is located in eastern Gilan Province, 30 kilometers from the Siahkal region.
