TEHRAN, Nov. 20 (MNA) – Foreign Minister Zarif said Iran cannot continue with JCPOA without receiving its economic benefits, adding that EU is having some difficulty with finding a country to host a special mechanism to trade with Iran in face of US sanctions.

Speaking to ICANA on Tue. about the latest developments regarding the EU’s promised special purpose vehicle (SPV) designed for facilitating trade with Iran in the face of US sanctions, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said the Europeans have some difficulty with finding a country to host the trade mechanism.

Zarif added that discussions on the issue are still in progress, and Iran is in contact with the European sides in order to settle the situation.

“Some countries have been proposed to host [the SPV], but they declined, as such, negotiations are still on going to find a host country,” Zarif added.

He maintained that Iran has several options and will adopt one that best suits its national interests and defined mechanisms.

The European Union and the other remaining parties to the JCPOA know that without ensuring the economic needs of the Islamic Republic of Iran under the JCPOA, the continuation of the current situation will be impossible, he added.
