Pointing to the potentials of Iranian companies in the railing sector, the envoy expressed Iran’s readiness to increase bilateral cooperation with Pakistan in all areas of mutual interest.
He went on to say that enhancing the capacity of rail cooperation is on the agenda of the two countries.
Honardoust called for setting up a joint committee for studying and updating the previous agreements between the two countries in the rail sector.
He also invited the Pakistani minister to visit Iran to conduct further related negotiations, an invitation which was accepted by the minister.
For his part, Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad said that upgrading the Quetta-Taftan Railway Line is essential for enhancing economic ties with Iran.
The Istanbul-Tehran-Islamabad railway line aims at connecting members of Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) to each other. The first cargo train passed the rail line in August 2009.
