TEHRAN, Nov. 9 (MNA) – Iranian short ‘Manicure’, directed by Arman Fayyaz, has won the Special Jury Prize at the International Short Film Festival 2018 held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

A statement by the jury reads that “at a time when our body and freedom are threatened, it is noteworthy that cinema reflects love and individuals needs; therefore, the Special Jury Prize goes to ‘Manicure’ for respecting and looking into this matter.”

‘Manicure’ is the story of a man who struggles to deal with the aftermath of the unexpected death of his wife under the eyes of the local villagers.

The Rio de Janeiro International Short Film Festival (Curta Cinema) is exclusively dedicated to the promotion and exhibition of short-length audiovisual works.

Some 200 films by directors from across the world were exhibited during the 28th edition of Rio de Janeiro Short Film Festival. The eight-day event wrapped up on Oct. 31.
