The deal, worth $130 million, was inked between Korean Rural Community Corporation (KRC) and a company from Iran’s private sector, Atiyeh Ganjineh Kish.
As per the agreement, the contractors will provide the grounds to convert waste into electricity in Aradkooh, south of Tehran, where a big share of capital’s garbage is buried.
The plan is envisaged to bring major environmental and economic benefits to the sprawling province.
Reportedly, Tehran produces between 8,000 and 9,000 tons of garbage daily, a large part of which is used to produce power in Kahrizak and Abali waste processing and disposal complexes.
Tehran's WTE plants’ produce some 5 megawatts of electricity per day.
