TEHRAN, Aug. 11 (MNA) – Deputies of Iranian and Russian foreign ministries met and held talks on the latest developments in the region and across the globe, and conferred on ways to counter terrorism.

The meeting was held on Friday in Moscow between Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, Gholamhossein Dehghani, and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Syromolotov Oleg Vladimirovich, who is responsible for counter-terrorism.

During the meeting, the two sides highlighted expansion of cooperation in fighting terrorist groups in the region, particularly ISIL.

The Russian side also invited Iran to take part at a conference on countering the illicit trafficking of arms to terrorists, which is slated to be held in September in the Russian capital Moscow.

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the two diplomats reviewed the latest threats of terrorism in the Middle East in general and Afghanistan in particular, and shared their experiences in combating terrorism.
