TEHRAN, Aug. 07 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said Mon. that US militarism and total disregard for human life have not faded 73 years after the country nuked Japanese cities Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Foreign Minister Zarif in a tweet on Monday remembered the 73rd anniversary of the United States’ nuclear bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945, describing the US as the “first and only” country to ever use nukes, “on an urban center of all targets.”

Zarif went on to express regret that the US, with a now vastly expanded nuclear arsenal, refuses to dismantle in defiance of NPT commitment.

“US militarism hasn't faded. Neither has its utter disregard for human life,” Zarif added.

On August 6 this year, Japan marked the 73rd anniversary of the United States’ nuclear bombing of Hiroshima, which was followed by another bombing in Nagasaki three days later. The bombings claimed the lives of 140,000 people in Hiroshima and 74,000 people in Nagasaki.
