Behrooz Nemati, who represents Tehran and is the spokesman for the Parliament’s presiding board, told Mehr News Agency correspondent, the lawmakers in their letter have called for the reshuffle of the president’s economic team.
Nemati said "the economic officials have not been able to resolve the country’s economic problems.”
He further said that they have been calling on the President for 5 months to change the economic officials but their request has always fallen on deaf ears.
The lawmaker’s letter is a reaction to the plunge of the Rial against foreign currencies, most notably the US dollar, during the past few days, which dropped to a record 87,000 low against the US dollar in the free market the day before yesterday. The Rial fluctuations sparked protests in Tehran’s Grand Bazar yesterday with angry shopkeepers and businessmen voicing their anger against the uncertainty in the market.
