TEHRAN, August 19 (Mehr News Agency) — Iraq's Governing Council in a statement has designated the 20th of Jamadi al-Thani, the birth anniversary of Hazrat Fatemeh Zahra (SA), the daughter of Prophet Mohammad (S), as Women’s Day in Iraq, the local press in Baghdad reported on Tuesday.

The Arabic-language daily Al-Shera reported that the council had congratulated all Muslims on the auspicious birth anniversary of Hazrat Fatemeh Zahra (SA), stressing that Iraqis will celebrate the happy occasion as Women's Day from this year on.

 

”From the current year, in the honor of Hazrat Zahra’s (SA) gratitude, and to appreciate the status of the Iraqi women, her birth anniversary is named as the Women’s Day in Iraq,” the statement read.

 

The birth anniversary Hazrat Fatemeh Zahra (SA) is observed as a sacred day all over the Muslim world.
