“Three transmission lines carrying Iran’s electricity will help boost power exports from Abadan, Khorramshahr and Karkheh Dam in the Iranian province of Khuzestan to Iraq”, Masud Hojjat said. The official added that while the two countries are currently negotiating over the power export, a 400 KW line from Abadan, a 132 KW line from Khorramshahr and another line from Karkheh will transfer Iran’s electricity energy to its neighboring Iraq.
All the various aspects of the issue including the time zone differences as well as the peak electricity consumption hours in the two countries have been regarded in the project and only Iran’s surplus electricity will be exported to Iraq.
Iran’s electricity grid is vastly connected to that of its neighboring countries most important of which are the republics of Azerbaijan and Armenia.
