TEHRAN, Nov. 27 (MNA) – Iran's Navy attended International Maritime Search and Rescue Exercise (IMMSAREX) underway in Bangladesh, under the auspices of the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium.

The largest Maritime Search and Rescue Exercise, attended by 32 countries including China, India and an Iran, has begun in the waters of Bangladesh in the Bay of Bangal, according to the public relations department of Navy of the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Forty-ninth fleet of the navy of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Army arrived in Bangladesh Sunday, Nov. 26, to join the Indian Ocean exercise, International Maritime Search and Rescue Exercise (IMMSAREX). From Iran, Sabalan Destroyer and Bandar Abbas Naval Logistics Vessel are taking part at the event.

The exercise is taking place under the aegis of the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS) and includes other participating navies. IONS is among a handful of regional organizations focusing on the Indian Ocean; it incorporates littoral states on the Indian Ocean, the Indian "the Diplomat" website reports.
