TEHRAN, Oct. 11 (MNA) – Iran’s nuclear chief Ali Akbar Salehi held talks with Boris Johnson, the British Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs on Wed. in London.

Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), Ali Akbar Salehi, who landed in London late Tuesday night at the official invitation of UK Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, Boris Johnson, held talks with the British top diplomat this morning on expansion of bilateral cooperation.

Salehi, who is leading an Iranian delegation, is also slated to attend meetings with British parliamentarians, a number of media elites, and Foreign Secretary’s scientific advisor. He will also pay a visit to a factory globally famous for developing particle accelerators during this one-and-half-day stay.

Salehi’s trip to London follows his visit to Rome since Thursday aimed at taking part in the 20th Edoardo Amaldi Conference on International Cooperation for Enhancing Nuclear Safety, Security, Safeguards and Non-Proliferation.

Johnson held a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Tuesday, during which he stressed Britain's commitment to the Iran's nuclear deal. Johnson's call with Zarif was followed by another one with US Secratary of State Rex Tillerson, presumably on the same topic of the nuclear agreement. Media speculations have been pointing to the possible decision of US President Donald Trump to decertify Iran's nuclear deal in his Oct. 15 report to the Congress.
