TEHRAN, Oct. 09 (MNA) – Iranian 1st VP during a joint press conference said the Islamic Republic of Iran has good relations with its neighbors, adding that there are no limitations for political, economic and cultural cooperation with Armenia.

The two neighboring countries, Iran and Armenia, have long and old relations with cultural commonalities and joint civilizations, and these relations are stable and sustainable, Es’hagh Jahangiri said at a joint press conference with Armenian PM Karen Karapetyan on Monday.

He reminded that the visit of Armenian PM to Tehran at the current time can help develop relations and promote cooperation between the two countries in economic affairs.

Addressing the objectives of their meeting, Jahangiri said the two sides emphasized the need for removing obstacles on economic relations and “take advantage of Armenia’s bond with Eurasian Union which has good relations with the European Union.

Iran’s first vice president also spoke with his Armenian counterpart on the field of energy, in particular electricity and gas, agriculture, conversion industries, engineering companies, contracting, transportation, science and culture.

The Iranian businessmen and private sector have used the opportunity to develop relations between Iran and Armenia, including the establishment of a joint free-trade zone, in order to provoke the private sector of the two countries to take action for export and import of goods and investment, he noted.

Armenian PM Karen Karapetyan arrived in Tehran, Monday morning to start a two-day visit. Upon landing in Mehrabad airport, he was greeted by Sattar Mahmoudi, Iranian Deputy Minister of Energy.

During his meeting with Jahangiri, the two sides signed three documents and MoUs in the field of veterinary and animal health, cultural and artistic exchanges, and cooperation between Iranian Vice-Presidency for Science and Technology Sorena Sattari and Ministry of Economic Development and Investments.

Karen Karapetyan, for his part, voiced content over his trip to Tehran. “I have stated at wherever I have been that the relations between Iran and Armenia are very close and friendly,”

He vowed that more efforts will be channeled to improve the economic areas of ties in addition to political and parliamentary relations.
