TEHRAN, Sep. 23 (MNA) – The final communique of the annual meeting of foreign ministers of the Group of 77 and China in New York stresses strong support for the nuclear deal and the need for lifting unilateral sanctions against Iran.

G77 member states unanimously adopted the final communique of the annual meeting of foreign ministers of the Group of 77 and China in New York on September 22.

The foreign ministers of the Group of 77 and China deemed Iran’s nuclear deal a constructive model and the result of successful performance of a multilateral mechanism in solving important international issues.

The foreign ministers of 134 member states announced in the statement that the nuclear deal serves as a real model for helping countries achieve sustainable development through improvement of international cooperation.

They also voiced strong opposition to the imposition of unilateral economic sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran and called for an immediate removal of the anti-Iran sanctions.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi attended the meeting and delivered a speech on behalf of Iran.

The annual meeting of foreign ministers of the Group of 77 and China was held Friday, 22 September 2017, in New York, in the presence of President of Ecuador as the country holding the chairmanship of the Group for 2017, chairman of the UN General Assembly, and the Secretary General of the United Nations.

The Group of 77 (G77) at the United Nations is a coalition of 138 developing nations aimed at promoting its members' collective economic interests. Since China participates in the G77 but does not consider itself a member, all official statements are issued in the name of The Group of 77 and China.
