TEHRAN, Sep. 22 (MNA) – Meeting with his Japanese counterpart in New York, Iranian Foreign Minister Zarif says that the current US approach to JCPOA tells the world that negotiations with US is futile.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Deputy for Legal and International Affairs Seyyed Abbas Araghchi met with Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono in New York on Friday.

During the meeting, the two sides representing Tehran and Tokyo discussed different aspects of bilateral relations in areas of banking, investment, energy, science and academy, regional and international issues, and the JCPOA.

“We denounce any production, testing, and proliferation of nuclear weapons,” articulated the Iranian diplomat saying that “the tact exercised by Japan, and other countries of the region and the world will prevent from a big disaster to happen.”

“The current foreign policy of the US gives the impression that negotiating with the US is useless,” asserted the Iranian minister.

Reminding his Japanese counterpart of the deteriorating situation in Myanmar, Mr. Zarif called for Japan’s help as an important country of the region to improve the situation of Muslims in Myanmar.

“Iran is an important and deep-rooted country in the world,” said the Japanese diplomat for his part, “Japan supports the JCPOA and calls all countries of the world to back it.”
