TEHRAN, Sep. 06 (MNA) – Iran’s Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani in a message on Tue. congratulated the Syrian army, resistance forces and people on the victory in Deir Ezzor, which has been besieged by ISIL for three years.   

“The liberation of Deir Ezzor and the lifting of a three-year ISIL blockade over the city with the efforts of the Syrian army and resistance forces has caused much rejoice and delight,” Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said in his message on Tuesday.

“This sweet victory, which was achieved by breaking the ISIL line in such a strategic zone, was the realization of the promise of victory of the forces of righteousness against wickedness and the great defeat of terrorism and extremism,” he added.

Larijani went on to say, “the city of Deir Ezzor served as ISIL headquarters in the region, and as such had been putting the citizens through so much pain and suffering. Thank God this heroic victory brought sweet freedom for these people at last.”

Larijani further voiced hope for the complete liberation of Syria from takfiri terrorists, and the establishment of peace and order all across the country.

On Tuesday, the Syrian government forces' operation broke the three-year siege of the city of Deir Ezzor, located on the shores of the Euphrates River to the northeast of Damascus. The Syrian army supported by the Russian Aerospace Forces has been advancing toward Deir Ezzor from three directions as part of an operation to free the city launched in August.
