TEHRAN, Sep. 05 (MNA) – The national football squads of Iran and Syria lined up against each other at Azadi Stadium of Tehran on a day that already qualified Iran did not need the points of the result and the Syrians’ hopes to qualify were pinned to their victory against Iran and South Koreans’ failure in Tashkent. While the Syrians won the lead very early, Sardar Azmoun equalized just before the end of the first half. Azmoun and Omar al Soma scored for Iran and Syria respectively to let the game finish 2-2 giving the Syrians the oportunty to stil fight for their dream in the play-off match.
