TEHRAN, Sep. 02 (MNA) – Boris Vujčić, Governor of Central Bank of Croatia said the largest bank of the Eastern European country was keen on bolstering cooperation with Iranian counterparts.

At a meeting with his Croatian counterpart, the Governor of Central Bank of Iran (CBI) Valiollah Seif pointed to comprehensive political relations between the two countries and called for reinvigoration of banking cooperation in accordance.

“Croatia enjoys a favorable banking system and Iran is therefore willing to launch suitable ties with Croatian banks in a bid to boost commercial and economic transactions between the two sides,” he continued.

Seif underscored that banking relations were prerequisite to economic ties adding “given their eagerness to tighten relations, banks of Iran and Europe can conduct joint venture, open branches or establish representative offices.”

Iran welcomes boosting cooperation between the two countries, he said, noting that at present, there are necessary capacities for promoting mutual collaboration.

Seif also expressed hope that the upcoming visit of Iranian traders to Croatia would help enhance economic and trade relations.

He also said that Croatian banks can first shape their brokerage relations with Iran’s state-owned banks and then promote their communications with other Iranian banks. Seif also said that further acquaintance of Iran’s situation will help foster commercial cooperation between the two countries.

Lack of sufficient familiarity with the Iranian banking system has prompted the countries such as Croatia develop mentalities about compliance of the Iranian banks with the international standards, he said, noting that the Iranian banks are working hard to keep up with the international standards.

Also at the meeting, Governor of Central Bank of Croatia Boris Vujčić said for his part that the two sides had a positive record of cooperation in the course of history though trade and economic ties were not at a satisfactory level and required further improvement.

The visiting official deemed exports as the cause of economic growth in Croatia, he said “presently, the country enjoys a desirable rate in economic growth, which is a two-digit figure.”

He later said a visit by Iranian companies would create an appropriate opportunity for further development of bilateral relations.

At the end of his remarks, Vujčić stressed that Croatia’s Central Bank would continue encouraging local banks to forge stronger relations with Iranian counterpart.
