In a statement issued on Friday, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi strongly condemned the terrorist attack on Imam Zaman mosque in Kabul, saying the terrorists have targeted the unity and solidarity among Afghan people. He further extended condolences to the Afghan government, people and families of the victims over the cowardly and inhumane attack.
“Fueling religious divisions and disrupting the unity of the patient Afghan nation are undoubtedly among the objectives of the terrorists who are on their last legs,” Ghasemi noted.
He went on to add, “it is imperative that the Afghan government and people throw the terrorists and their supporters into despair as always through solidarity and constant vigilance.”
A deadly suicide attack Friday on a Shia Muslim mosque in the Afghan capital of Kabul left at least 20 people dead and 50 others wounded. ISIL has claimed responsibility for the attack, at least a second of its kind this month targetting Shia worshippers in Afghanistan.
