TEHRAN, Aug. 06 (MNA) – Syrian Prime Minister Imad Khamis is scheduled for a meeting with Iran’s security chief Ali Shamkhani Sunday afternoon in Tehran.

The Syrian prime minister and his accompanying delegation have been in Tehran for the Saturday swearing-in ceremony of President Hassan Rouhani.

This afternoon, Imad Khamis will be holding talks with Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani on the latest developments in region as well as expansion of bilateral relations.

During the meeting, the two sides will also confer on cooperation in combating terrorist groups as well as ways to develop economic and commercial ties between Tehran and Damascus.

Tehran is preparing to host the next round of expert consultations on the Syrian peace process, within the framework of Astana talks, this week.
