Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani made the remarks in a media interview on Wednesday, adding that while Iran will not take the bait for being the first side to pull out of the nuclear deal, this does not mean that the Islamic Republic will remain committed to the deal at any cost.
He went on to add that the lack of initiative and wisdom in the new US governing body has presented a good opportunity to Iran’s diplomacy, adding “a series of measures in the fields of legislative, technical, nuclear, economic, political, defense and military have been determined by the committee supervising the implementation of JCPOA that will be pursued in parallel with one another as a response to US hostile approach toward the nuclear deal.”
“Every time the US slaps non-nuclear sanctions on Iranian individuals and companies, we have managed to make a new advancement in that field, a part of which has not even been made public,” he said.
“In the political sphere, five countries are practically standing against the US, all of whom finding the US the violator of JCPOA. This is a political achievement for Iran with minimal cost,” he added.
Shamkhani deemed one reason for US anger at the current situation the country’s failure in changing Iran’s principled policies in the region after the nuclear deal, adding “the Islamic Re public believes that in order to subdue this angry bull, one must redirect its energy toward a desired path so that one could achieve its goal without getting hurt or spending additional costs.”
Shamkhani further stressed that development of the country’s missile program is non-negotiable, adding “IRGC’s missile strikes on takfiri terrorists in Syria demonstrated Iran’s domestic military power at the highest level of preparedness.”
