TEHRAN, Jul. 29 (MNA) – Iranian lawmakers have unanimously approved general outlines of a countermeasure bill to US hostile measures against Iran, Senior Iranian MP Boroujerdi said Saturday.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Chairman of Iranian Parliament’s Committee on National Security and Foreign Policy, Alaeddin Boroujerdi, said Iranian lawmakers have unanimously approved the general outlines of a countermeasure plan to US exploits and terrorist acts in the region in the Committee’s meeting today, adding “the message of the unanimous vote is that there is coordination and unity in the Iranian parliament for taking actions against the US Congress measures.”

Lawmakers in the US House of Representatives passed their version of the sanctions bill 419-3 on Tuesday, while the Senate voted 98-2 on Thursday to send the legislation to Trump's desk. The White House has announced that President Donald Trump intends to sign the legislation which will also impose new sanctions on Russia and North Korea.

Iran considers the sanctions bill a violation of the nuclear deal dubbed JCPOA which went into effect in January 2016.

Boroujerdi went on to add, “more meetings are required to review the plan as we have received several suggestions from a number of MPs which will be carefully reveiwed and voted on. Once approved, they will be added to the bill.”
