In conclusion of the tournament, the Chinese delegation became the champion having earned 30 gold, 17 silver and 18 bronze medals. The US stood second with 20 gold, 19 silver and 20 bronze trophies followed by host England who was awarded with 18 gold, eight silver and 13 bronze medals.
The Iranian squad however ended in the 17th position in the table of medals for bagging 20 medals including three golds, 12 silvers and five bronzes.
Amanollah Papi (javelin), Alireza Mokhtari and Saman Pakbaz (shot put) brought home three titles for the Persian caravan.
Iranian athletes who stood on the second podium comprise Javad Hardani, Ali Mohammadyari, Mohsen Kaeidi, Mehran Nekueimajd, Hashemieh Motaghian, Mohammad Khalvandi, Sajad Nikparast, Siamak Salehfarajzadeh, Sajad Mohammadian, Saman Pakbaz, Mohsen Kaeidi and Hamed Amiri.
Meanwhile, Mohsen Majidi, Aliasghar Javanmardi, Abdollah Heidari, Hamed Amiri and Asadollah Azimi settled for bronze medals.
Attended by 1150 athletes from 90 world countries, the 2017 World Para Athletics Championships started in in London on July 14, and concluded on July 23.
It was the 8th edition of the event, which was formerly known as the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Athletics World Championship prior to 2017, and featured 213 medal events.
