TEHRAN, Jul. 13 (MNA) – Iran’s FM Zarif and his accompanying delegation have left Tehran early Thursday to take part in the UN meeting of the high-level political forum.

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi announced the news, adding that Mohammad Javad Zarif is also scheduled to hold talks with a number of officials and prominent figures participating in the international event.

The UN meeting of the high-level political forum on sustainable development is underway under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council from 10 July to 19 July 2017, including the three-day ministerial meeting of the forum from 17-19 July. The theme will be "Eradicating poverty and promoting prosperity in a changing world".

Zarif is accompanied by deputy FMs Abbas Araghchi and Majid Takht-Ravanchi on this trip. 

Ghasemi further confirmed Zarif’s attendance at the US Council on Foreign Relations on 17 July. The Iranian foreing minister will discuss current developments in the Middle East in a meeting presided by Richard N. Haass, the Council’s President.
