TEHRAN, Jun. 25 (MNA) – NITC head said preparation of nine docks at Kharg oil terminal have increased its export capacity to approximately eight million barrels per day.

Seyed Pirouz Mousavi, Managing Director of National Iranian Tanker Company (NITC), touched upon arrival of foreign oil tankers saying “France’s Total Company ranks first among European companies as regards deployment of leased oil tankers to the Iranian terminal.”

“Also, National Iranian Tanker Company (NITC) has undertaken 70 to 75 per cent of Iran’s crude oil export to Asian destinations,” he continued.

Mousavi highlighted the rise in number of foreign oil tankers in Iranian oil terminals following implementation of Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) saying “so far, companies like Total, Italian Eni, and Russian Lukoil as well as Greek, Belarusian and Norwegian companies have moored at Iran’s Kharg oil terminal.”

The official referred to renovation of harbor and equipment of Kahrg terminal adding that presently supertankers, dubbed Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs), are able to tie up at Azarpad jetty.

NITC head also underlined that Iranian experts have set records in Ship-to-Ship Transfer (STS) and 26 STS operations were carried out within six months in the previous Iranian year.

Iran’s exports of oil and gas condensate has reached around 2.6 million barrels per day most of which is being exported via Kharg terminal.
