TEHRAN, May. 12 (MNA) – Chairman of the Security Committee to monitor election-related activities, Hossein Zolfaghari, told the media that the electoral offenses of this year’s elections in Iran is 60% lower than previous years.

“The security readiness, intelligence awareness, and the planning of the SWAT units have been devised in a way that any move to disrupt the security and order of elections will be immediately and assuredly tackled,” said Hossein Zolfaghari, the head of the security committee of elections at Iran’s Interior Ministry, on Thursday.

The official recounted that more than 260,000 security forces have been assigned to keep the law and order for a secure elections in Iran and this is beside the police, army, and intelligence forces who are tasked to preserve the security of borders and linking routes.

Zolfaghari highlighted that the committee is following a continuous and regular chain of meetings with attendance of all members from state TV, Judiciary Branch of Iran’s Establishment, police, army, and intelligence forces. He reassured that all cases which may entail security harms are closely monitored and examined in the committee.

The Iranian official added that at the same time in previous elections a number of more than 600 offences had been registered but currently 256 cases have been filed which shows a 60% curb in the rate.
