Iran men's national under-19 volleyball team lost 2-3 to South Korea’s men's national under-19 volleyball team at the semi-final in the 2017 edition of the Asian Youth Boys Volleyball Championship. It is the first time in all editions of the tournament that Iran’s outfit is not one side of the final event.
The Iranians who had punched the ticket to the fifteenth edition of the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) Volleyball Boys' U19 World Championship in Bahrain with their victory over Thailand in their last match before lining up against South Koreans now have to get ready for the third-place march against China on Wednesday.
In the semi-final game against South Korea which started at 3:15 Iran’s time at the Wunna Theikdi Indoor Stadium in Myanmar’s capital city of Naypyidaw, the Iranian squad conceded the first two sets 25-19 and 25-22 but gained composure in the next two sets and with 25-23 and 25-16 results in the 3rd and 4th sets returned to the court for the 5th set. However, the last set finished with 15-9 result to let the Koreans advance to the final.
On Wednesday, South Korea and Japan will fight over the 1st place while Iran and China will race over the bronze medal of the tournament.
