TEHRAN, Feb. 28 (MNA) – Farnoush Abedi’s animated piece ‘The Servant’ about a giant cockroach who gets tired of his servitude to man, will be screened at 14th London Independent Film Festival.

Abedi’s short animated piece ‘The Servant’ is currently attending the 27th Cinequest Film Festival in the US through March 12. It has also won the Best Animation award at the 33rd Tehran International Short Film Festival held on 8-14 November 2016 in the heart of Iran’s metropolis.

According to the director, 'The Servant' narrates the familiar story of a master and his servant, the story of a writer’s encounter with a gigantic insect: a cockroach. The cockroach becomes a servant but gradually begins to realize that it deserves better conditions, so it tries to turn the table and change the game in its own favor. The man, however, attempts to preserve the current situation but soon realizes that the game has no rules.

Now in its 14th year, and with space for over 100 indie films over two weeks every April on the South Bank of the Thames, London Independent Film Festival (LIFF) is Europe's leading film festival dedicated to low (under $150,000 US) and no-budget filmmaking. The festival is slated for 13-25 April 2017.

'Cold Breath' directed and produced by Abbas Raziji is another Iranian production that will compete at 14th LIFF.
