TEHRAN, Feb. 21 (MNA) – Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Jaberi Ansari received Xie Xiaoyan, the Special envoy of Chinese government on Syria on Tuesday in Tehran.

Mr. Xie Xiaoyan, the Special envoy of Chinese government on Syria, who is visiting Tehran for exchanging views with Iranian officials on the Syrian crisis, met with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Jaberi Ansari on Tuesday.

During this meeting, the Chinese diplomat evaluated Astana talks as a positive measure initiated by Iran, Russia, and Turkey with beneficial results in resolving the Syrian crisis and underlined the importance of undertaking necessary measures to keep the truce on. “If the terrorists are not beaten properly the truce would not last for long,” said the Chinese diplomat with emphasis on war on terrorism as the key element of resolving the Syrian crisis.   

Highlighting the traditional and all-out relations between his country and the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr. Xie Xiaoyan asserted that his country is willing to have constant exchange of views with Tehran regarding the issue of Syria.

The Iranian diplomat, in this meeting, for his part said that the Astana talks were intended to speed the political procedure of solving the crisis in Syria with stabilizing the truce and moving toward national compromise in the Arab country. He underlined the necessity of concentrating on the political solution with properly-oriented movement toward forward.

The Iranian deputy FM referred to the trilateral joint supervisory board of truce formed by Iran, Russia, and Turkey as the major accomplishment of Astana I and II talks and voiced hope that stable ceasefire in Syria yields in the completion of a procedure of national reconciliation and the end of the crisis in Syria.
