TEHRAN, Feb. 20 (MNA) – Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi deemd Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu’s comments in the 53rd Munich Security Conference as ‘counterproductive’.

"Those who resort to interventionist, illegal and illegitimate acts, provide support for terrorist groups and raise tensions and instability in the region wishing for vain to return to the Empireship, cannot shirk their responsibilities using projections against other countries,” Ghasemi said.

He noted that the key culprit of instability and insecurity in the region is Turkey and some other paranoid countries; "they cannot escape from the self-created whirlpool accusing others," Ghasemi noted.

Islamic Republic of Iran has always sought stability and security for all countries and neighbors in the region, he underlined, adding its role and policy is acknowledged and welcomed by many fair governments and peoples in the region and the world.

Speaking at the Munich Security Conference on Sunday, the Turkish foreign minister criticized what he called an Iranian "sectarian policy" aimed at undermining Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, saying, "Turkey is very much against any kind of division, religious or sectarian.”
