TEHRAN, Jan. 19 (MNA) – President Rouhani ordered immediate action to deal with the collapse of Plasco Building incident which is feared to have claimed some lives from firefighters and shop owners.

Offering condolences over possible death and injury of some “dear fellow Iranians” in the tragic event of fire and collapse of Plasco Building in central Tehran, President Rouhani issued an executive order urging the Minister of Interior Affairs, Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli, to immediately investigate the causes of the accident, identify the responsible, take care of the injured ones, and compensate the losses of the losers with quick measure of all entities in charge.

Built and opened in 1962 in Iran, Plasco Building was for some years the tallest construction of the city with a height of 42 meters. Early in morning, on Thursday, the 9th floor of the building was caught by flares of fire, suspected to be caused by human mistake, and despite the efforts of fire fighters of the capital city the highly inflammable stock stored in the building, mainly textile and paper packages, swallowed the whole building and it finally collapsed.

Around 30 firefighters, who were trying to evacuate the building and extinguish the fire, and an unauthorized number of storehouses’ owners, who were trying to rescue their belongings, are feared to be trapped under the debris.
