TEHRAN, Dec. 20 (MNA) – The Spokesman of Iran’s Foreign Ministry, in a statement on Tuesday, condemned the Monday night event in Berlin in which 12 civilians were killed and dozens more were injured.

Bahram Ghasemi, the Spokesman of Iran’s Foreign Ministry, lamented the murder of some innocent people at a crowded Christmas market in central Berlin and condemned the attack. Late on Monday, a lorry plowed through people shopping at a traditional Christmas market in Berlin and twelve people have been reported killed at the incident.

Offering sympathies to the bereaved families, Ghasemi re-articulated Iran’s firm determination to counter extremism and violence for complete eradication of the ‘heinous phenomenon of terrorism’. He voiced hope that not such an event be witnessed in the future.

The Iranian diplomat underlined the necessity of solidarity and unity among all nations and governments of the world in a ceaseless, purposeful, and sincere fight against terrorism as a vital and important step toward eradicating the phenomenon.
