Speaker of Iran’s Parliament Ali Larijani issued separate messages, on Tuesday, to his Russian counterparts, Vyacheslav Volodin, the Chairman of the State Duma, and Valentina Matviyenko, the Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia. In the messages, Larijani offered condolences and condemned the assassination of the Russian Ambassador to Turkey Andrey G. Karlov on Monday.
He expressed sympathies with the people and government of Russia and expressed hope that the joint collaboration of the international community leads to eradication of the ‘sinister dominance of terrorism over the world.’
“This horrific terror act, not only revealed the filthy identity of terrorist groups and their danger to the stability and tranquility of the international community, but also proved, for another time, that terrorism is a serious threat to all nations, regardless of their ethnicity, cultural background, religion, sect, or geography,” Larijani stressed in his message.
The Russian envoy to Ankara was shot dead Monday night at an art gallery while he was several minutes into a speech for the opening of the exhibition.
