TEHRAN, Dec. 13 (MNA) – Iran’s ICT Minister Vaezi said the contract on construction of national remote sensing satellite is set to be signed by the Russian side today and the construction will begin on Wednesday.

Mahmoud Vaezi made the remark in the closing ceremony of the 13th Iran-Russia Joint Commission’s meeting in Tehran on Tuesday, adding “the two countries’ roadmap for economic relations has been drawn for days and is set to be signed today.”

“Our agreement on construction of a remote sensing satellite has been finalized and its document will be signed today, and work on its construction will begin tomorrow,” he added.

Vaezi noted the various meetings between the two countries’ presidents, saying “the most recent of these visits came during the trilateral meeting between Iran, Russia and Azerbaijan in Baku where the heads of states agreed on bolstering economic relations as fast as possible and stressed on drawing a roadmap for future cooperation.”

He evaluated the cooperation between the two countries’ private sectors as progressing, and added “two significant projects with nearly 2.5 billion dollars of investment, one on the construction of a thermal power plant in Bandar Abbas and the other on electrification of a railway line from Garmsar to Incheboron, will be signed today.”

Russia’s largest trade delegation comprising 300 people from 180 firms, arrived in Tehran on Monday to conduct face-to-face meetings with state and private sectors of Iran. The visiting delegation has travelled to Tehran in the form of a joint commission on economic, cultural and scientific cooperation between the two countries.
