The second stage of the 2016/17 Indoor Archery World Cup convened in Bangkok while the international indoor circuit had begun in Marrakesh in November.
The second stop on the tour saw some of the world’s top archery athletes travelling to Bangkok, Thailand for the Asian stage which marked the last event of the year.
Competing in the final round of Recurve Cadet Women division, Iran’s Sogand Rahmani won the title by pulling out a 7-1 victory over her compatriot Parisa Rohanian who stood in the second place. Arezoo Asgari of Iran also came third in the same category.
Matin Sabzi failed to overcome the host country rival Maximilian Hahn in the final round of Recurve Cadet Men and stood on the second podium.
In Men’s Junior events, Vahid Behdani conceded a fedeat to Mongolia’s Bataa Purevsuren in the final showdown and bagged a silver medal.
Female junior archer Fatemeh Hajiallahyar however claimed the title by thrashing Pirada Kuekulkawinwong of Thailand in the finals of Recurve category. Iran’s Maryam Karami bagged a bronze medal in the same group.
Iran’s other gold medalist was Seyed Abolfazl Hosseini who overcame the host country archer Aittiwat Soithog in the finals of Recure Novice Men.
Silver and bronze medals of Compound Youth Open were won by Iran’s Armin Pakzad and Danial Heidarzadeh respectively.
Moreover, Ebrahim Ranjbar, Iranian para archer, managed to stand on top of the podium in Recurve Para Open section of the sportive event.
Accordingly, Iran’s men and women archers managed to bag a total of 10 medals including three gold, four silver and three bronze medals though they had secured one gold and two silver trophies in the first stage of the tournament held in Morocco.
