Ali Larijani voiced his sympathy and sadness over the death of Fidel Castro in a condolatory message to the Speaker of Cuban National Assembly of People's Power (Cuba's Parliament) Juan Esteban Lazo Hernández.
"With utmost regret over passing of Fidel Castro, the former president of your country, I deeply feel obliged to express my sympathy and condolences to the parliament, government and people of the Republic of Cuba," reads Larjani's message to Cuban National Assembly Speaker Hernandez.
Castro's name has been associated with the history of age-long efforts by people in many parts of the world who have called for freedom and liberation from colonialism, noted the official.
He further stressed that "undoubtedly, Fidel Castro remains as one of the leading and unforgettable figures in the history of the twentieth century."
"I would like to seize the opportunity to wish health and success for you and Cuban Members of the Parliament (MPs) as well as prosperity and welfare for the people of the friendly country of Cuba," said Ali Larijani in his message.
