TEHRAN, Nov. 26 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif expressed condolences to the people of Cuba over the death of revolutionary leader Fidel Castro who died on Friday at the age of 90.

“I hereby express my condolences to the strong and revolutionary nation and government of Cuba over the sad demise of the country’s revolutionary leader Fidel Castro, who was a prominent figure in fighting against colonialism and exploitation, and served as a model for autonomy-seeking struggles of suppressed nations in Latin America,” Zarif said in his message on Saturday.

The Iranian diplomat further prayed that his soul rest in peace.

Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro, who is known for his resistance against the pressure from the United States while his country was exposed to economic war, died at the age of 90 on Friday.

Officials from Russia, France, India, Mexico, and Venezuela have also expressed their condolences over the demise of Fidel Castro.
