Sinopec (China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation) has become more active in the Iranian oil industry following the removal of international sanctions, emergence of post-JCPOA era and well as launch of talks with world’s credible oil and gas companies.
In other word, following the poor performances of Chinese firms in developmental plans of North and South Azadegan fields or South Pars Phase 11, activities of Chinese parties in development of western Iranian joint oilfields have become more promising.
Accordingly, completion of Phase 1 of North Azadegan oilfield, in collaboration with China National Petroleum Corporation International (CNPCI), the production at Yadavaran joint field has also surged to 115 thousand barrels per day as a result of cooperation with Sinopec.
Executive manager of the Development Project of Yadavaran oilfield Hadi Nazarpour said “oil production at the joint oilfield with Iran has currently reached 115 thousand barrels which exceeds the initial commitment made for the first developmental phase by approximately 30 thousand barrels.”
The official recalled that Phase 1 of Yadavaran aimed to reach a total production of 85 thousand barrels per day asserting “the accumulative oil output from the field has reached 65 million barrels per day.”
Three developmental phases were envisaged for the joint oilfield with the first and second phases aiming to increase output to 58 and 180 thousand barrels per day, respectively while the third phase eyes an aggregate production of 30 thousand barrels per day.
The Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh has recently called for signing a final contract with China’s Sinopec over over development of Yadavaran’s Phase 2.
Yadavaran Field oil field is one of the NIOC Recent Discoveries which is located in Khuzestan, Iran.
The name is new, as the field is made up of two former fields, Koushk (discovered in 2000) and Hosseinieh (discovered in 2002). After researchers discovered that the two fields were actually connected, the field was renamed as the Yadavaran Field.
