TEHRAN, Nov. 01 (MNA) – Shahindokht Molaverdi, Vice-President for Women and Family Affairs, is in Turkey to attend the 6th session of the OIC Ministerial Conference on the Role of Women in the Development of Member States.

The session is organized by the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Family and Social Policies in the Republic of Turkey. It will take place on 1-3 November 2016 under the theme "Status of Women in the OIC Member States in light of Current Challenges".

The conference will convene on Tuesday at the senior experts level as hosted by Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya, Turkish Minister of Family and Social Policies, and with an opening speech by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Ministers of 56 Member States will review the most important challenges in the field of women empowerment and advancement, as well as the obstacles to the achievement of the OIC Plan of Action for the Advancement of Women (OPAAW).

The presentations will include educational and pedagogical procedures taken by Member States to combat violence against women and achieve justice and equality between genders, as well as the OIC's efforts to alleviate the economic, social, and psychological effects on women and girls in fragile areas.

The Wednesday session will be held at the ministerial level and attended by Ms. Molaverdi and convened with an opening speech from President Erdoğan.

On Thursday, representatives of OIC Member States will review the adopted policies and achievements in the field of women empowerment and exchange views on ways to combat violence against women and promoting justice and gender equality.
