TEHRAN, Oct. 07 (MNA) – On October 10, 680 AD, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Imam Hossein (AS), and the accompanying entourage of families and children were stopped at a desert 75 kilometers away from Kufa, the final intended destination, and the men of the caravan were brutally slain and the women and children were ruthlessly taken as prisoners. The event is annually commemorated around the world. A dramatic re-enactment of the event was performed on streets of Iranian northeastern city of Mashhad early on Tuesday.
